Defendant sent a letter to the deponent claiming that she "... and her children were threatened with bodily harm unless the deponent gave the writer of said letter the sum of $100 ... and deliver same to a certain lunch room." The deponent left an envelope with two marked $1 bills and a number of cigar coupons at the arranged location, where the defendant picked it up before being arrested by police.
