The defendants, referred to as "gypsies," allegedly extorted $5,900 from the deponent - his entire savings - by convincing him that they could magically "double the amount." Upon sewing up a handkerchief that was supposed to hold the money, the defendants ordered the deponent to not look inside until later that night. When he did, he found 11 $1 bills and, upon returning to their residence, found that they had fled.
