The defendant, following a quarrel with his roommate, "took some newspapers, ignited it ... in a gas stove and willfully set fire to an oil cloth covering attached to the wall ... when [his roommate] attempted to extinguish it, which was spreading rapidly, the [defendant] pushed her away and prevented her from extinguishing the fire."
