She [deft] told me she had some words with Moses Dunnon with whom she had been living as common-law wife; words to the effect she had been staying out late or keeping some appointment between themselves. She left the premises, went to a store on Lenox Avenue, bought a household can of lye, came back to the premises, mixed half a can of lye in half a can of water, went to the door of the apartment in the basement, called the complainant Moses Dunnon to the door and when he answered the door she threw the lye in his face, causing him to lose the sight of the left eye and burns on part of his face and body, left side of his body.
