Cut deponent on left side of neck with a pocket knife held in deft’s hand causing a laceration necessitating treatment in Harlem Hospital. While passing premises 2143 7th ave was asked by complainant to pay a bill owing and due the complainant’s employer who conducted a coffee pot in the said premises. The deft inform him that he would not pay him, whereupon the complainant threatened the deft that if he came into the coffee pot again he would break his nose. A fight followed. The deft cut the deponent under the left ear, slightly scratching him. No stitches were required. Police Officer McLaughlin of 28th precinct saw a crowd running after the deft whom he arrested in the Alhambra Theatre. The deft’s face was covered with blood. The deft told the officer that he acted in self-defence and that the complainent had attempted to strike him with a cleaver.
