The defendants - one of whom [Blacke] was the husband of the deponent - "did induce, entice, procure and compel deponent... to live a life of a prostitute." After fainting at a cabaret following "a stabbing affray," the deponent woke up to find herself in her apartment, where defendant Lewis "compelled [her] to perpetrate an act of sexual intercourse with him." Subsequently, the defendants forced her to "go upon public streets for the purpose of prostitution and make money for them," which she did for around four nights. The defendants later took her to an apartment on 7th Ave where, after she refused to "perpetrate acts of sexual intercourse" with three men, Defendant Rosenthal "did strike a number of blows on her body." Deponent states that she was requried to give the defendants proceeds for her prostitution "several times," and "that on several occasions... these defendants... did strike and beat [her] on [her] refusal to go on the public streets for the purpose of prostitution."
