At the opening of the new home of the Mt. Olivet church, Dr. William P. Hayes preached his first sermon. After the morning worship had been completed, congregants inspected the building. At 3:30pm the church was dedicated and the keys were officially handed over to Dr. Paynes. A well attended evening service at 8pm followed. All the auxiliaries were in attendance for the grand opening. Plans for a procession from 7th avenue and 135th street were cancelled due to rain.
