Took place at his residence, on the third floor above the nightclub he owned. The religious service was conducted by Rev Ada Clayton Powell of Abyssinian Baptist Church, and then a ritual was performed by the Monarch Lodge of the Elks, of which he was a member. The coffin was then taken down 7th Avenue to Mt Olivet cemetery
