A social club called the Alwyns, which is exclusively male, hosted 500 people for a dance. The ballroom was decorated in the style of a formal English garden with a marble fountain topped by a marble fawn featuring centrally. Chick Webb's Albamba Orchestra provided the music for dancing, whilst there were also several dance performances.
