It seems that one Augusto Vegas has attended a parlor social in 328 West 59th Street … and had met there one Ida Johnson with whom he was keeping company. While at the party the Prisoner and an unknown friend of his had asked Ida Johnson for a dance which she refused and Augusto Vegas remonstrated with them for interfering with his girl friend. Vegas at the time was under the influence of liquor and was put out of the party. Apparently the Prisoner and his friend followed Vegas to the street and an argument ensued between them. In the course of the argument some friends of Vegas went to the home of Julius Morales at 341 West 59th Street and told him that his uncle Augusto Vegas was in an argument with some colored people. Morales left his home and went to take his uncle away. When he arrived there he was attacked .. and stabbed in the right side of the face. The prisoner then fled and was apprehended a few days later. Morales was taken to Roosevelt Hospital and died the following day.
