After leaving his room – in a West 126th Street rooming house – locked for the day, the deponent [Linton] returned to find the lock had been broken, and a quantity of clothing stolen from inside. The defendant [Raspberry] was later arrested by a police officer, whereupon he admitted to having burglarized said premises.
