“Since the month of February 1935, this defendant [Manning] did under threats… compel deponent [Smith] to live [a life] of prostitution and to give him the money she earned therefrom.” On July 8, 1935, the defendant “did by threatening deponent bodily harm with a revolver,” compel the deponent to “go upon the streets of the city and commit acts of prostitution with men” – after which she gave him the $2 that she had earned
