"Miss Victoria Holmes, discussing "The Negro and the New Deal," was declared the winner of the Silver loving cup offered at the third annual oratorical contest sponsored by Upsilon Chi Gamma, Sunday evening, April 28, at the 135th Street branch YMCA. Pressing the winner was Miss Louise B. Schou, recipient for a silver medal for her presentation. "The Contribution of the Negro to the Arts and Sciences." The bronze medal was awarded to Victor Gillineau for his oration "Is the Negro a Citizen of the United States?"
