"The police of the West 135th street station 'quietly' halted a meeting of the followers of Sufi Abdul Hamid, president of the Negro Industrial and Clerical Alliance, at the Dunbar Palace Monday night, when the remarks of the picket leader were regarded as slightly incindiary... Finding out that Sufi was to be the speaker after he had rented the hall, N.H. Rutherford, assistant manager of Dunbar Palace, summoned the police before the speaking started."
