While observing a woman engage in card “manipulation” tricks at West 142nd Street and Eighth Avenue, the deponent [Robins] was “induced” to show her $4 in cash – which she claimed she could duplicate. Upon taking the money out of her handbag, the defendant [Thorpe], who was also present, took it from her and refused to give it back.
