A police officer was informed by one Fred Bland [aged 14] that the defendant [Devine, 50 years] “called at the home of said child's cousin [Dorothy Goodman, aged 14]... entered the bed in which said child was at the time, and did... perpetrate an act of sexual intercourse with said child.” Bland had left the apartment “to make a purchase,” and was informed of the incident immediately upon his return.
