"Mass picketing of The Amsterdam News offices under the leadership of three prominent Harlem ministers and a radio attack on "some sinister and evil force," which is reported to be seeking the destruction of the paper because of its Republican tradition, featured the sixth week of the labor dispute between the Harlem weekly and the New York Newspaper Guild. The Guild fight for the reinstatement of fifteen editorial workers locked out by The Amsterdam News management on October 9 continued unabated Tuesday. The ministers led a mass picket line in front of the paper's offices Friday, twenty-four hours after two dozen pickets had been freed in Washington Heights Court following the wholesale arrests Tuesday."
