"Ensconced in attractive-looking headquarters, the immortal light lit by Marcus Garvey fifteen years ago again shone brilliantly through the New York Division No. 340 on Sunday afternoon and evening last.... The New York Division, No. 340 of the Universal Negro Improvement Association, until recently holding forth at 355 Lenox Avenue, now occupies the premises at 36-38 West 135th Street, the old Gem Theatre, which was damaged by fire some time last year. Their initial occupation of the premises is marked with what is termed a "gala opening week program," which was entered into on Sunday afternoon last. An interesting program was gotten up for the occasion, and many prominent Harlemites were among the speakers."
