Meeting of the Young Women's Christian Association's sub-committee on race relations held at the West 120th Street home of Frances Williams. Mrs. E. P. Roberts, of the national board of directors, "sounded a warning against what she considered the tendency in the association to "play up" the "orchid ladies," that is, the rich board ladies, and to ignore the efforts of the rank and file who are translating actions into actions." She also urged the press to cater for "industrial girls... [who] are genuinely interested in the problems of labor and capital, social and political adjustment, and other "mens page" stuff."
