"Rivalry between two factions of ministers for the control of the arrangements for the annual conference of the National Baptist Convention, Inc., here this August, broke up the weekly meeting of the Baptist Ministerial Alliance at the Metropolitan Baptist Church on Monday. An executive meeting of the local committee was held on Tuesday afternoon and after prayer and a speech by the Rev. Dr. J. B. Boddie of New Rochelle urging harmony, the factions got together and the differences were ironed out. The Rev. Dr. Thomas S. Harten, pastor of Holy Trinity Baptist Church of Brooklyn... headed one faction, while the Rev. Dr. George H. Sims, pastor of the Union Baptist Church, Manhattan... headed the other."
