"The Citizens' Democratic Club was the Mecca of aroused voters of the district last Wednesday night... The resentment of the action of [Martin] Healy and [Harry] Perry in attempting to usurp the 19th A. D. without a vote of the county committee was intensified to the point of pandemonium... Pointed discussions followed by Dr. C. C. Williams of the A. M. E. Zion connection... and others."
