"An effort to secure more employment for the Negroes of Harlem is being made by a new organization which is sponsoring a big mass meeting at the Renaissance Theatre on Thursday evening, September 5. Ben Roman, owner of thew theatre, is sponsor of the movement and has the cooperation of many merchants and property owners in the uptown section. It is Roman's belief that the economic well-being of the Negroes in Harlem would be vastly improved and that many could be dropped from the relief rolls if manufacturers and others whose products are largely consumed by colored people were to employ Negroes to distribute these products or handle their business among the colored people."
