"The American Legion against War and Fascism, which in the past has supported the Negro people against lynchings and chain gang imprisonments, has initiated a broad movement to march against war on August 3. Many prominent Negro and white sons have endorsed the plans. We have even received an expression of appreciation from Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia... The mobilization point for the Harlem organization is on 126th Street, between Lenox and St. Nicholas Avenue at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 3. The parade, which will be led by the Provisional Committee for the Defense of Ethiopia, will march through Harlem and end with a large street meeting at 143rd Street and Edgecombe Avenue."
