The defendant [Meekins, aged 27] was arrested for the molestation of one Thelma Robinson, a four year old girl. Robinson’s mother took the defendant and his wife into her home “because they were in destitute circumstances,” and allowed Meekins to sleep in the same bed with the child. After noticing the child was “distressed in the vicinity of her private parts,” she was taken to a physician, who diagnosed her with gonorrhea.
