The defendant [McDow], while in a shoe repair shop at 1 West 134th Street that he resided in and worked as a “shoe shine,” “did slash deponent [Karl, a police officer] across the right side of the face, on the neck, top of the head and left arm with a shoemaker’s knife, causing lacerations necessitating about 58 stitches.”
