"An invitation to Negro investors to share in the possibilities of the Douglas Finance Corporation, organized to finance the expansion of the Dunbar Service Stores on a chain store basis, was extended Monday night at a dinner at the Little Gray Shop, 266 west 145th street... E. P. E Williams, white, president of the Dunbar Service Stores, and vice-president of Consolidated West Africa, Inc., said at the dinner that the Douglas Finance Corporation... would finance and manage the Dunbar stores to the extent of opening 200 additional stores in the next year and a half in Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington DC... Mr Williams... said it could be built and managed by colored people for colored people. If not, he said, it could be built for colored people with assistance from other sources. Either way, he felt, Negroes now have the opportunity of entering a big business on a basis of absolute equality with responsible men from Wall Street"
