First Day of Catholic Big Brothers and Sisters Retreat

"The Catholic Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Harlem launched their activities for the year 1935-36 with a retreat at St. Mary's Convent, 8 East 131st Street, the mother house of the Most Pure Handmaids of Mary, on September 12th and 13th. Altogether thirty-four members gathered to begin their work with new vigor and better understanding. The conferences, given by the moderator, Rev. John C. Dougherty, dealt with the arms and purposes of Catholic social service, with particular application to local needs."
