"Cornered in the basement of the undertaking parlors of Eric C. Phillips, 106 West 136th street, a seven foot copperhead snake was killed last Saturday by Mr Phillips and his assistant. The reptile is believed to have been one of the three which two years ago escaped from a collection which a man named Duffy kept at 120 West 136th street. Two of them were captured shortly thereafter by agents of the S.P.C.A. A third remained loose to terrorize the neighborhood. The snake was discovered and stretched along a pipe. The head was cut off and is being preserved in embalming fluid"
