After locking her apartment for the day, the deponent [Barker] returned to find “the door leading from the public hall to the dining room open,” and a quantity of goods – suits of clothing and five oovercoats – missing from therein. One of the stolen suits was later discovered in a pawnshop at West 128th Street and Third Avenue, having been pledged in the name of the defendant [Chandler].
