"A new type of public health system was advocated by Dr. Samuel A. Tannenbaum in a brief talk on the pros and cons of socialized medicine at the Hubert Harrison Memorial Church, 149 West 136th Street, Sunday evening. Briefly, Tannenbaum explained, this system would be modeled after the public school set-up. The state would build enough hospitals to meet the health demand of the community, and these hospitals would be manned by duly registered physicians and surgeons who would be paid by the state."
