"Complete stoppage of elevator and janitorial services in 900 Harlem apartment houses looms for next week - or perhaps, this weekend - Clifford McLeod, leader of the Harlem Council of Local No. 32-B of the Building Service Employees International Union, revealed yesterday at council headquarters, 200 West 135th Street. The union, he said, had the voted the strike call Wednesday in order to induce landlords to live up to terms of the agreement between the union and the employees signed last February."
