"Endowed and aristocratic All Souls' P. E. Church... scene of a turbulent segregation battle two years ago, will be the scene tomorrow (Sunday) of another unusual event. Mass will be sung by a Negro priest, the first time in the history of the church that this has ever happened. The celebrant is the Rev. Fr. Denzil A. Carty... who was one of the leaders in the successful fight to prevent a clique of white vestrymen from forcing the Negro parishioners to attend segregated services"
