"Mrs. Jean Howland, 320 Manhattan Avenue, proved herself a gracious hostess when she surprised her husband, Charles, with a delightful birthday anniversary party at their home Monday night. Great vases of chrysanthemums gave the room an autumnal air. George Price presided at the modernistic bar in the living room. Mr. Howland was the recipient of many useful gifts. Dancing and cards were the diversions of the evening."
