The deponent [Syversen] was “induced” by a “young [Black] woman” to accompany her to the Dewey Square Hotel on West 117th Street, where she requested $2 to buy a beer. Later, in a room in said premises, she threatened him with a knife and robbed him of $10. Upon reporting the incident to a police officer, the deponent – who was heavily intoxicated – identified the defendant [Richardson] as the woman who had robbed him, although she denied it. Upon taking the deponent and defendant to the Dewey Square Hotel, a clerk stated that Syversen had indeed been in the premises, although it was with another young Black woman.
