"Amos Chalmers... was sent to the Workhouse for thirty days... after he was found guilty of assaulting Emily Hockley, of 207 West 134th Street on November 10. Chalmers was arrested... on the complaint of Miss Hockley, who alleged that Chalmers struck her on the side of the head with a blunt instrument during an altercation in her home."
